Intermezzo concert poster summer 2024

Thank you to our lovely audience, who gave us a full house on 14th September for our concert "In the silence of the night". The programme included works relating to night and silence including a dramatic opening, in the darkness, by Augustinas (text from Psalm 139: yea the darkness hideth not...), the atmospheric Dum medium silentium by fellow Lithuanian Miškinis, music set in the night-time by Latvians Ēriks Ešenvalds and Laura Jēkabsone, and a lovely song about wishing on a falling star by Swedish composer Emil Sundberg.

Away from Scandinavia and the Baltic states, we sung two pieces by Eric Whitacre including a complete reimagining of Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence, haunting arrangements of an old English folk song by Kerry Andrew and a modern one by Jim Clements, a classic version of All Through the Night, South African Peter Klatzow's Night Silence, and a joyful new arrangement, also from South Africa, to test the choir's mettle!

If you enjoy our work, consider supporting out committed performances of both well- and lesser-known chamber choir music, as well as getting access to reserved seats, by joining the Friends of Intermezzo.
